HP smart tank 7305

I'm trying to print from my HP Smart Tank 7305.  Each time I press 'print', I get a pop up message saying "print cancelled". I have turned my computer off and on, my printer off and on, and I've unplugged and plugged back in both.  It's still saying "print cancelled".

Hi @ChristineH1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing issues with your HP Smart Tank 7305 printer and consistently getting a "print cancelled" message, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Check Printer Status: Ensure that there are no error messages or issues displayed on the printer's control panel. Make sure there is enough paper in the tray and that the ink cartridges are properly installed.

Clear Print Queue: Sometimes, print jobs get stuck in the print queue, leading to issues. Follow these steps to clear the print queue:

  • Open the Control Panel on your computer.
  • Go to "Devices and Printers."
  • Right-click on your HP Smart Tank 7305 printer and select "See what's printing."
  • In the new window, click on "Printer" and select "Cancel All Documents."

Restart Printer Spooler:

  • Open the Run dialog by pressing Win + R.
  • Type "services.msc" and press Enter.
  • Locate "Print Spooler" in the list.
  • Right-click on "Print Spooler" and select "Restart."

Update Printer Drivers: Make sure you have the latest drivers for your HP Smart Tank 7305 printer. Visit the HP official website, locate your printer model, and download the latest drivers for your operating system.

Check for Software Conflicts: Ensure that there are no conflicts with other installed software or security programs that might be blocking the print job. Temporarily disable antivirus or firewall software to see if it resolves the issue.

USB/Network Connection: If you're using a USB connection, ensure the cable is securely connected. If you're using a network connection, check that the printer is properly connected to the network, and the network is stable.

Printer Reset: Try resetting your printer to its default settings. Refer to the printer manual or visit the HP support website for instructions on how to reset your specific model.

Firmware Update: Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer on the HP website. Updating the firmware can resolve software-related issues.

Reinstall Printer: Remove the printer from your computer, restart the computer, and then reinstall the printer using the latest drivers downloaded from the HP website.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue causing the "print cancelled" message on your HP Smart Tank 7305 printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
