HP3210 Printer
Microsoft Windows XP

I'm getting error message 0xc18a0206 Ink System Failure on my HP3210 printer. I tried holding down help and ok then unplugging and replugging in printer. I tried ok and cancel.  None of those worked. Then I tried ok, cancel, black and color then pressing power button off, removed all inks, pressed all those and then pressed power button. It came on, did it's reset, asked me language, then told me all the inks were missing so I put the inks in, it did it's maintenance. I printed a test page then right after that, the Ink System Failure message came back on.

What else can I do?

My printer is an HP Photosmart 3210 printer. We have not had a power surge nor a power outage. It is connected to a battery backup as well. I have not made any changes or done anything to the printer.I do not know how to reseat the printhead. I have tried several times to reset the printer itself from the recommendations in this forum. The error message is complete ink system failure. It will not copy print scan or do anything at all but turn on and off. I have not tried to update the printer firmware. I don't know how to but I will see if I can figure it out.

Thank you for offering to help me.

@AmySueRan,

It's great to have you back and your patience is greatly appreciated.

As I understand you are having issues using HP Photosmart 3210 printer, don't worry I'll do my best to help you with this.

Perform a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Did you try to update the printer firmware? If not, If your printer connected wireless, make sure to temporary connect the device with USB and then follow the link to check for the latest firmware update if available for your printerusing this website. Restart the printer once done.

For more details on how to update the printer firmware, please go through this link: HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

If the issue still persists, I would suggest you go through this support document for - HP Photosmart Printers - 'Ink System' Error Displays

If you have followed the steps suggested and still having the issue, I would personally suggest this could be a possible hardware failure.

I will share you a private message with details. Please watch your inbox for more information.

Let me know if this helps!

Have a great day ahead! 🙂
