HP7510
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

New HP Windows 10 desktop with HP7510 inktjet printer connected through wireless network.

After fresh restart of computer:

When I try to prin a document it comes back with the message that it has no connection to printer, do you want to cancel the print? However, running Printdoctor gives all signals ok (green). But when I print the testpage nothing happens. In the end PrintDoctor gives up (no solution).

After running the windows troubleshooter:

Troubleshooter advises to make the HP7510 the default printer. When I do that printing works again.

So, the printer will only work when it has been selected as default printer. I do not want that, as another printer is my default. Is this a trick to do more printing through the HP machine? If that would be the case, this does not reflec well on HP.

Please advise how to resolve this issue.

Hello, @RB-1000 – Hope you are well 🙂

I understand that you are having issues while printing with your Photosmart 7510 printer. Going through your post, I can tell you that it definitely is not a case of HP wanting to make all the prints through HP 🙂 It more looks like an issue with the print drivers that you are using.

I would suggest a clean install for fixing this issue. Here are the steps:

  • First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Photosmart printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the HP printer entries and remove the device.
  • Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any HP printer entry there as well.
  • Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Now click http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL39677/mp-108855-4/PS7510_1315-1.exe to install the software.
  • Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. (This might change the default printer, you can change it as you see fit)

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Good luck 🙂
