Well, unfortunately, the printer keeps forgetting its IP address. It works for a while but once it goes on idle, the printer disconnects from the network. If I turn off and turn on the printer's wifi, then it reconnects. Other ideas? Thanks!

That's unfortunate 😞

Let's enable IPv4 only mode on the printer and check if the printer remains connected to the network:

1.) On the printer control panel, touch the wireless icon to view wireless summary, locate printer IP address or IPv4 address.

2.) Open a web browser on your Mac and type the printer IP address onto the address bar and hit Enter. The EWS information page for the printer opens.
3.) Click the Network or Networking tab.
4.) Click Advanced
5.) Click Network Protocols and select IPv4 only.
6.) Click Apply. Wait for the changes to take affect.

7.) Restart Printer and Mac.

Thanks! I just tried what you indicated but I cannot find the Network Protocols in the Advanced tab. A snapshot is below.

In case it helps, I went to the wireless summary and I could see the IP; however, when I typed in the IP address on the browser, I couldn't locate the printer. The network utility couldn't find the printer either. Only after I turned off the wifi on the printer and turned it back on, the printer showed up on the network. It was almost like if the printer thought it was connected to the network (as seen in the wireless summary) but in reality it was not connected.

I hope we can figure this one out. Thanks again for your help!

Could you select the option "in an infrastructure network use 802.11b/g behavior" and also check under "Status" if you can locate "Network Protocols".

Thanks. I selected 802.11b/g behavior successfully. Under Status I see the following details:

For privacy reasons, I left out the actual data but this page only shows a summary of the network settings. I don't see an option to use IPv4 only. Thanks!

It's possible that the printer does not support IPv6. Is the printer still disconnecting from the network after enabling "use 802.11b/g behavior"?

Unfortunately, I just tried using the printer tonight and the printer was disconnected from the network even after enabling the 802.11 b/g behavior. It is interesting though. On the printer's display, an IP address is shown but the printer is no longer connected. If I turn the printer's wireless off and on, then it works fine. What else may be happening? Thanks!

Bugs in WiFi router or in the wireless client chipsets/drivers/software could cause connectivity issues. Have you tried updating router firmware?

Unfortunately, updating the firmware on the router didn't help. The printer keeps disconnecting when on idle for a while. Thoughts? Thanks!
