Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Product HP OfficeJet 7612 wide format. I am receiving this error message when I try to print. “There is a problem with the printer or ink system.  Press ok to try to recover.  If the problem persists turn off the printer then on.  Contact HP if you continue to get the message 0X61000f6”.

When I press “OK”, I then get a message that says “Printhead appears to be missing or improperly installed”.  So I went through a couple of different cleaning processes, but nothing worked.  So I replaced the print head, but now I am getting the error message “The print cartridge can not move. Open the ink cartridge access door and clear any paper jam or obstacles.”  The cartridge starts to move, but that slams hard against the far left side and then stops in middle. How can I fix this, there are no jams or obstacles?

Hi @Jedi-1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've done some troubleshooting already, but let's go through some additional steps to try to resolve the issue:

Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a couple of minutes, and then plug it back in. This can sometimes reset the printer's internal components and resolve temporary issues.

Check for Obstructions: Even though you've mentioned there are no visible jams or obstacles, it's worth double-checking. Open the ink cartridge access door and visually inspect the area for any stray bits of paper, debris, or foreign objects that might be obstructing the movement of the print cartridges.

Reset the Print Cartridge: Try removing the print cartridges and reseating them firmly in their respective slots. Ensure that they are properly aligned and securely inserted. Sometimes, a loose connection can cause this type of error.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts: Ink residue or debris on the cartridge contacts can interfere with communication between the cartridge and the printer. Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water to gently clean the contacts on both the cartridge and the printer.

Check for Firmware Updates: Sometimes, firmware updates can address compatibility issues or bugs that might be causing printer errors. Check if there are any available updates for your HP OfficeJet 7612 printer and install them if necessary.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
