For months now I have had the error below. I have tried everything I can think of including updating via both a pc and Mac which would not work and I can not get rid of the message. If I click retry it just comes back, if I click OK it goes away for a few hours but is back the next day. Just about ready to throw the thing in the bin as getting more and more annoyed with companies forcing updates on devices that did not need them and then making them obsolete. Of course this also happened around the time the extended warranty ran out as well. Printer works fine when the message goes away. Ive tried so many times to find help and the whole HP "Support experience" has driven me mad!!!

Has anyone got a solution to this? Ive also tried connecting using a cable and it makes no difference it still won't update. Ive tried doing the update via the embedded web page and that just freezes also.

The other annoying thing now is that the printer no longer goes to sleep as the error stays on the screen permanently until you click OK but it then comes back in about 8-10 hours. This is a waste of electricity and is ridiculous.

There is a greyed out check box on one of the pages that gives the option to turn off auto updates but I can't select that either.

I have a monthly subscription for ink and apparently I should be able to get direct support but I can't find how to either.
