HP 8715

I ran the OEM cartridges until empty, no problems.

Replaced them with aftermarket cartridges and they performed flawlessly.

I had the OEM ones refilled and attempted to use them today. They are full but the status indicator states they are empty.

I followed the procedure....

I pulled the power from the rear and waited >60sec.

Returned power direct to wall and waited until the printer was silent.

Updated the firmware via the App, which stated it was already up to date

Still states the cartridges are empty.

I don't want to spend more money on cartridges if this is unfixable.

Ridiculous .... is this some sort of firmware lock?

Can anyone shed some light?

Thanks

Dave

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

HP doesn't recommend refilling or using non HP ink.

Try the steps from here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-pro-8710-all-in-one-printer-series/7902014/model/7...

Let me know if this helps.

Seriously.....

That is you response? Obviously HP doesn't recommend using any other ink like every other manufacturer of literally anything.

If you are not going to offer any assistance or tips or anything constructive why bother? As stated I've already followed all the cursory waste of time reset procedures and "cleaning" the cartridge contacts of the peanut butter which can contaminate the contacts on the chips which are the root problem "scam" of the cartridges along with the "scam" updated firmware which blocks non-HP cartridges.
