Hi @Sankargadu,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Deskjet 5000 printer is not copying properly but can print and scan without issues, there could be a few reasons for this behavior. Here’s what you can check and try to resolve the problem:

Check Ink Levels and Cartridges: Sometimes, if the ink levels are low or the cartridges are not properly seated, it can affect copying. Ensure that your ink cartridges are correctly installed and have sufficient ink.

Clean the Scanner Glass: The scanner glass or the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) if your printer has one, might be dirty or have smudges. Use a clean, lint-free cloth and a small amount of glass cleaner (if necessary) to gently clean the scanner glass and the white strip under the lid.

Update Printer Firmware: Outdated firmware can sometimes cause issues with copying functions. Check if there are any updates available for your printer’s firmware and install them if needed.

Reset the Printer: Power cycle your printer by turning it off, unplugging it from the power source, and waiting for about 1-2 minutes before plugging it back in and turning it on again. This can sometimes resolve temporary glitches.

Check Copy Settings: Ensure that the copy settings (such as paper size, type, quality) are correctly configured. Incorrect settings might cause the printer to produce blank pages or not copy at all.

Perform a Printer Reset: This can often resolve various issues. Different printer models have different reset procedures, so refer to your printer’s manual for instructions on how to perform a reset.

Check for Paper Jams: Even if it prints and scans, a small paper jam or debris in the paper path can cause copying problems. Open the printer and check for any paper jams or foreign objects that may be obstructing the paper path.

Test with Different Paper: Sometimes, the type or condition of the paper can affect copying. Try using a different type or brand of paper to see if the issue persists.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
