Bad printer connection.  My emails will not print.  When hit "print" it goes directly to my download desktop folder.  " Save print Output As This PC-Desktop".

Hi @Marji3,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I understand how frustrating it must be to have your emails not print and instead save them as a file. Let’s work together to resolve this issue so you can get back to printing seamlessly.

  • Is the printer set as the default printer in your computer's settings, or is it defaulting to "Microsoft Print to PDF"?
  • Are you able to print from other programs or files, or does this happen only when printing emails?
  • Is the printer connected via Wi-Fi, USB, or another method, and does it show as "ready" in the printer status?

Check the Default Printer:

  • On your computer, go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  • Ensure your HP OfficeJet 4655 is set as the default printer (marked with a green check).

Adjust Print Settings:

  • When printing an email, check the selected printer in the print dialog box.
  • If it shows Microsoft Print to PDF or another option, change it to your HP printer.

Restart the Printer and Computer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it for a minute. Restart your computer, then turn the printer back on and ensure it reconnects to the network.

Test Connectivity:

  • Print a test page from the printer’s menu or from your computer.
  • If you’re using Wi-Fi, confirm the printer is on the same network as your computer. You can print a network configuration report from the printer for verification.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Go to the HP Support Page for the OfficeJet 4655.
  • Download and reinstall the latest drivers and software for your printer model.
  • After reinstalling, test printing an email again.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
