HP ENVY 114 e-All-in-One Printer - D411c

My printer worked fine until it didn't. I get a "Your printer needs attention." message. Then I get a "needs alignment" message on the printer. It fails alignment (probably because I use only the black cartridge --  which has worked fine for more than 2 years). Then I have to turn the printer off then on. It prints the job. But, when I try to print the next job, it wants my attention again and won't print without being rebooted.

The HP Print and Scan Doctor shows a "Device Status" caution, but the printer prints a test page without me having to turn it off and then on. So, I'm stumped.

Hi @Juan_Tanamera,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you find that you have to reboot your HP ENVY 114 e-All-in-One Printer every time you want to print a job, it could be indicative of an underlying issue that needs to be addressed. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow to try and resolve the problem.

Update Firmware and Drivers: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Similarly, make sure you have the most up-to-date printer drivers installed on your computer. Check the HP website for any available updates.

Check Connectivity: Verify that your printer is properly connected to your computer or the network if it's a wireless printer. Sometimes, connection issues can cause printing problems.

Restart the Print Spooler: On your computer, you can try restarting the print spooler service. This can help resolve any temporary issues related to print jobs not getting through. Here's how to do it.

  • For Windows:
    • Press Win + R, type "services.msc" and press Enter.
    • In the Services window, locate "Print Spooler," right-click on it, and select "Restart."
  • For macOS:
    • Open "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners."
    • Select your HP ENVY 114 printer and click the minus (-) sign to remove it.
    • Add the printer again by clicking the plus (+) sign and selecting the printer.

Check Print Queue: Sometimes, a stuck print job in the queue can cause subsequent jobs not to print. Clear the print queue and try printing again.

  • For Windows:
    • Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
    • Right-click on your printer and select "See what's printing."
    • Click on "Printer" in the top menu and choose "Cancel All Documents."
  • For macOS:
    • Open "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners."
    • Select your HP ENVY 114 printer, click the "Open Print Queue" button.
    • Click the "X" next to any pending print jobs to cancel them.

Check Paper and Ink: Ensure that your printer has enough paper and ink (or toner) to print the jobs. Low ink or paper can sometimes cause printing issues.

Reset Printer: If the problem persists, try resetting the printer to its default settings. Refer to your printer's manual or the HP support website for instructions on how to perform a reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
