Hi @HettyH1,

Welcome to HP Support Community

Let's start with a printer reset

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.
(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed

Also, disable the IP V6 Address

From the home screen on the printer control panel, swipe the display to the left, and then touch Setup.

Touch Network Setup, and then touch Advanced Settings.

Turn off IPv6, and then touch Yes to confirm.

Thank you so much for your response, however my printer screen just wasn't allowing me to follow your instructions.  The printer is a few years old so I think maybe it's just giving up!  Thanks for trying though.

Once again thank you for your response.  I've spoken with two very helpful and patient people from HP Support, but after trying various options I'm afraid my printer is not responding and we have come to the conclusion that it's time to accept that this one has had its day and I need to buy a new one.

Many thanks for your continued help and support.
