@DGray4, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Here are the steps to troubleshoot and fix the "Problem with Printhead" error message (Oxc19a0040) on your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 printer:

Restart the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  3. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  4. Wait for 60 seconds and connect the power cord back in.
  5. Turn on the printer.

Remove and Reinstall the Printhead

  1. Open the ink cartridge access door: Lift the access door and wait until the carriage is idle and silent.
  2. Remove the cartridges: Carefully remove all ink cartridges from the printhead.
  3. Lift the latch handle: Gently lift the latch handle on the printhead.
  4. Remove the printhead: Take out the printhead from the printer.
  5. Reinstall the printhead: Align the printhead properly and insert it into its slot, then lower the latch handle until it locks into place.
  6. Reinstall the cartridges: Insert the ink cartridges back into their respective slots until they click into place.
  7. Close the access door: Lower the ink cartridge access door.
