Hi folks,

I've searched the net for anything remotely to what I've been battling with but came out empty handed, the issue is when ever I print a pdf document to A3 size on my Officejet Pro 7740 all the horizontal lines will print as a bunch of small backslashes. Vertical lines print normally. Seems to be isolated to A3 paper size making me think this might be a driver related issue?

Has anyone experienced anything like this before? Any help would be welcome!

Hi @GidionL ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're experiencing a formatting or driver issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 when printing PDF documents in A3 size. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue:

Check PDF Settings: Ensure that the PDF document you're printing is formatted correctly for A3 paper size. Sometimes, PDFs may have specific settings that could affect how they're printed, including line thickness and rendering.

Update Printer Drivers: Visit the HP website and make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your OfficeJet Pro 7740 printer. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause printing issues, especially with specific paper sizes or document formats.

Print from Different Software: Try printing the PDF document from a different software application or a different PDF reader to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is specific to the software you're using.

Check Printer Settings: Make sure the printer settings are correctly configured for A3 paper size. Double-check the paper size settings both in the printer properties on your computer and on the printer itself.

Print a Test Page: Print a test page directly from the printer to see if the issue occurs outside of the PDF document. If the test page prints normally, it could indicate that the problem lies within the PDF or the software you're using to print it.

Try Different Paper: Test printing on different A3 paper to see if the issue persists. Sometimes, the problem could be related to the paper quality or compatibility with the printer.

Hi Gaya1239

Thanks so much for the suggestions, I managed to isolate the issue to Windows since A3 prints just fine from my phone.
Looks like the problem came in from the default drivers windows installed when I setup the computer in January. Installing the correct drivers from HP's website fixed the issue! Thanks again!
