I am getting horizontal white lines in my prints. They are uniform and about .58 inches apart and about .05 inches wide. When I run the print quality diagnostic, the lines are only in the three colors and not in the black, but some of the text is cut in half as white lines are coming up in the text also.  I have completed the entire troubleshooting procedure including replacing the ink cartridges without success. I did not replace the print head (a fellow on another forum did that without success).  This problem has come up several times on forums with several different HP printers but no one has provided information as to the cause of the problem and the detailed solution. Any help would be appreciated.

Lines in all three colors in the same place would likely be caused by an electrical issue between the printhead and printer.  I would suggest removing the printhead and cleaning the electrical contacts on the printhead and printer.  A clean, damp coffee filter works well for this.  Reseat the printhead and print a test page.  If this does not resolve the issue reseat the printhead up to three times.

Tried cleaning the print head contacts 3 times but the result was the same.  Any more suggestions or should I buy a new print head?

The troubleshooting steps in the document here may help resolve the electrical connections issue.  The instructions there may be better than the ones I gave for cleaning the printhead contacts.  You can also try soaking the printhead as described in steps 7-9 of the document here.

I would hesitate to buy a new printhead - they are rather pricey (but generally do include cartridges) and may not resolve the issue.

I am leaving on vacation today and won't be back for a while so I won't be able to manually clean the printhead until then. Thanks for your help.
