Product: HP Officejet 6500A plus

I just want to print in black and white but it wont allow me because I lack the color cartridges.

The Officejet 6500a, as well as other printers with separate ink supplies and printheads, requires all cartridges to be present.  This is to prevent damage to the printhead.  You will need to replace the missing cartridges.
