@nmckenzzz,

Thank you for reaching out to the HP Support community!

The printer as you know has the WPS feature to help customers to easily connect the printer to the WiFi Network.

But the WPS feature cannot be disabled separately.

If you do not want to use the WPS feature, you have to turn off the Wireless feature on the printer.

Go to Set-Up menu > Network Set-Up > Wireless Settings > Turn off the Wireless

Hi

Thank you very much for the clear reply. I had hoped that since the WPS protocol is not secure, and can be vulnerable to a brute force attack (see the Wikipedia article on WPS and other sites) that there would be an option to disable the WPS system separately from other wireless options. I appreciate the more secure wireless options, and had hoped, given HP's recent emphasis on keeping printers secure, that there would be an option to disable the WPS protocol.

Possibly this could be a feature of future software developments, even if not for my particular printer model.

Thanks again for your clear answer.

@nmckenzzz,

Thank you for your suggestion. Maybe in the upcoming models, they might introduce this feature on the printer.

But basically, the WPS feature is to connect the printer effortlessly to the WiFi Router.

You can use other methods like the wireless set up wizard to connect the printer to your WiFi network.

If you feel that the WPS is not a secure option, you can disable the WPS feature on your Router.

This would prevent your network and attached devices from any attacks.

Cheers!
