My settings are locked and I don't know the administrator password or PIN to unlock them. How do I find them?

Hi @Jhd19

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining the situation—having locked settings without access to the administrator password or PIN can be incredibly limiting. To guide you accurately, I’d like to understand a few key details:

Which device is affected?
Is this happening on your HP Envy x360 laptop, another Windows PC, or a different device entirely?

What operating system is installed?
Are you using Windows 11, Windows 10, or something else?

Where are you encountering the lock?
Is it in the Windows Settings app, during startup, or when trying to install or change something?

Are you signed in with a Microsoft account or a local account?
This affects how recovery options work.

Do you have access to any other accounts on the device?
For example, is there another user profile that might have administrator privileges?

Once I have these details, I’ll be able to guide you with precise, safe steps to regain access.

We're looking forward to helping you get back up and running!

Regards,

Hawks_Eye
