I  have been trying for a month to get my printer working, as the ink carriage sticks on the right side and I get error code OXOO829C96, HW Watchdog C.  I have had several HP managers on email (I am disabled and unable to use a phone), and they -specifically Kimberly and Luis Posada, who keep saying they will help me and then they stop communicating, with no explanations.    Yesterday, Luis, told me he had not received the daily messages I have been sending him for a week, after he said he would help me, and that he would get back with me today, to get this fixed "at the first hour" (Whatever that means), but it is after noon and I have not heard a word.  These people at HP and Instant Ink are absolutely horrible.  And, the thing is, they are costing their own company money by not having my printer working.  I am elderly and disabled and not very tach savvy, but I can follow directions,...I REALLY, REALLY NEED ASAP PLEASE!!!!

Hi @rachel8118,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're facing with your HP Officejet 5255. The error code OXOO829C96 with "HW Watchdog C" typically indicates a hardware issue, often related to the ink carriage or its components.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check the Ink Carriage

  • Open the printer’s access door to reveal the ink carriage.
  • Make sure there are no obstructions or paper jams in the area.
  • Gently move the ink carriage to the center if it’s stuck.
  • Ensure the ink cartridges are properly seated and not clogged.

Reset the Printer

  • With the printer on, press and hold the Cancel button (red x) and the Wi-Fi button (wireless icon) for about 10 seconds.
  • Release the buttons, and the printer should perform a reset.

Check for Obstructions

  • Ensure there are no foreign objects or paper fragments inside the printer that could be obstructing the carriage.

Perform a Hard Reset

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.

Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Go to the HP website and download the latest drivers for your model.
  • Install the updated drivers and check if the issue persists.

Check for Firmware Updates

  • Some issues can be resolved with a firmware update. Visit the HP support website and see if there are any available updates for your printer model.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
