I've been trying to figure out how to fix the color alignment issue on my Color LaserJet Pro MPF 477fdw.  At some point after updating my cartridges the color gout out of alignment and I can't seem to get it back.

  • I've tried updating the the latest firmware
  • I tried printing demo pages
  • I've tried running the calibration 20+ times
  • I tried putting back in all the original cartridges
  • I tried resetting the configuration

I've run out of ideas and was hoping someone could help me figure out if there are an remaining issues or if I should replace the printer.

So since no one seemed to want to help I decided to try figuring it out on my own.  I did looked at what others had done to to fix alignment issues on other printers and one thing that was suggested is that replacing the ink cartridges might help.  So I ordered some new ones from Amazon.

Here is what I did:

  1. I removed the old ink cartridges
  2. I used a paintbrush to clean up the ink power in side the printer
  3. I then put the ink cartridges back and an ran the clean option several times.
  4. I then took out the old ink cartridges and put in some new ones.
  5. I then reset the printer to factory default settings through the web interface.
  6. I ran the cleaning step again.  (At this point things looked good)
  7. I ran several print pages to verify that the problem was resolved.

I hope that this helps anyone else who might run into an issue with color alignment issues on the HP  Color LaserJet Pro MPF 477fdw.

I've got a similar problem on my color laser Samsung Express C460FW.

The color management is all out of whack.

Various suggestions are to download a Samsung Easy Color Manager.

Why this isn't supplied with the Samsung/HP print Manager is beyond me and does not speak well for HP support.

I think it's perhaps time to move to another brand if the support people cannot provide an easy answer.

I'm beginning to think that my Color LaserJet Pro MPF 477fdw is really only a Black and White printer and if I want a true color laser printer (MPF) that I should look for another brand.  This is too bad because I use to really like HP printers.  I still have an old Black and White printer from 20+ years ago that is still chugging along.

I would be much appreciative if someone could help me how to solve this color alignment issue on the Color LaserJet Pro MPF 477fdw though.

No replies, so I'm going to assume there is no solution and look for a new printer. 😞
