Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.
I understand you're experiencing an issue with your printer going offline intermittently.
I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, I'm here to help you today.
Please follow the steps below to fix the issue.
A) Perform a power drain.
1) Take out the cartridges
2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.
3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.
4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.
5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.
Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges

Haven't had a chance to check it yet. Printer works great as long as I go over and press the power button to wake it up before printing. Is there a way to keep it from going to sleep? . Only question with that is, How will it affect the lifespan if I do that since I don't print to it everyday?
If I send print job to printer when it's asleep, The print job just sits in the queue and fails. I have it connected to my local network via an 8 port hub along with a few other devices, DVR, Smart TV, DVD Player. Is there a way to configure it to detect the print job in the queue and become active automatically ? or am i stuck with waking it up manually by pressing the power button when needing to print ?
Using HP Smart.... on my Dell G5000. FYI..
