@Babs3583, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Ink cartridges need to be replaced under various circumstances, such as when they are low on ink, empty, or faulty. Here are some general indications:
Low Ink Levels: The printer’s front panel or embedded web server will display the ink levels of each cartridge. If the ink level is low and you anticipate unattended printing, you might consider replacing the cartridge.
Empty Cartridge: When the cartridge is completely out of ink, the printer will usually prompt you to replace it.
Faulty Cartridge: If a cartridge is detected as faulty, the printer will display a message indicating issues that might require replacement.
Steps to Check Ink Cartridge Status
- Access the printer’s front panel and navigate to the ink cartridge menu.
- Select "Ink Cartridge Information". The display will show:
- Color of the cartridge
- Product name and number
- Serial number
- Status and ink level
- Total ink capacity
- Warranty status
Additionally, you can access this information via the Embedded Web Server from your computer, which provides a detailed status including ink levels.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
