Officejet 7740
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

So I'm trying to print a custom size page that is 6 3/8" x 11 7/8" on my Officejet 7740 and when I go to print there is no selection for custom paper size. So after some research I found a thread talking about this issue and it mentioned a firmware update so I went to my product page and downloaded and installed the firmware update and still no custom option. Then I ran across this page https://support.hp.com/lv-en/document/c03890386 that tells you how to create a custom paper size in the control panel which I did but when I go back to my program (Adobe Acrobat but also double checked in Microsoft Word) to print it dosen't show my custom paper size that I just created as an option for me to select. So I'm at a loss and can't figure out how to make this work. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

So I figured it out myself and it was a dumb human to machine conversion error. I was putting my paper size in without thinking about orientation of the page because I know I can select orientation when it comes time to print but that made it outside the bounds of what this printer can print. So I'm posting my answer just in case anyone else runs into this in the future.

When I created my paper size I wasn't paying attention to which order I put my dimensions in before. And this printer supports printing 11 x 17 documents but I had created a paper that was 11.875 x 6.375 which is smaller than an 11 x 17. But not with the orientation I entered it as because 6.375 is less than 17 but 11.875 isn't less than 11 whic is why it wasn't giving me the option when it came time to print. So I switched it to 6.375 x 11.875 which is ultimatly the exact same size document but in a format the computer and printer will accept.

And now when I go to print my new custom paper size is now avaliable.
