HP ENVY 7800 All in one printer. The printer is in the offline status over the last few days. I don't understand how or why it is stuck in offline status. The printer was purchased new. It is only 1 year old.

Hi @Kwjb,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
1. Check for Error Messages
- Look at the printer display screen for any error messages and resolve them by following the onscreen instructions.
2. Restart Printer and Computer
- Turn off your printer using the power button.
- Turn off your computer.
- Wait for 30 seconds, then turn both the printer and the computer back on.
3. Check Printer Connection
- Ensure your computer and printer are connected to the same network.
- If using a USB connection, disconnect and reconnect the USB cable.
- If using a wireless connection, verify that the printer’s wireless signal is enabled and it is connected to the same network as your computer.
4. Verify Printer is Not Paused or Offline
- Open the Control Panel on your computer.
- Windows 10: Select Windows System from the app list, then click Control Panel. Go to Hardware and Sound, then View devices and printers.
- Windows 8/8.1/7/Vista/XP: Similar steps as above for accessing the Control Panel and View devices and printers.
- Right-click your printer icon and select See what’s printing to open the print queue.
- On the Printer menu, make sure there are no check marks next to Pause Printing or Use Printer Offline.
- If you made any changes, try printing again.
5. Set the Printer as Default
- From the Control Panel or Devices and Printers, make sure your HP ENVY 7800 printer is set as the default printer.
- If another printer is set as the default, right-click your HP ENVY 7800 printer and select Set as Default Printer.
6. Restart Print Spooler Service
- Windows 10: From the Windows Start menu, select Windows Administrative Tools, then Services.
- Find and right-click Print Spooler, click Properties.
- On the General tab, make sure that the Startup type is set to Automatic.
- Click Start under Service status if the service is not running, then click OK.
7. Clear the Print Queue
- In Devices and Printers, double-click your printer to open the print queue.
- On the Printer menu, click Cancel all documents or Purge Print Document, then confirm.
8. Check Wireless Network Settings
- Ensure the wireless network connection is stable and has adequate signal strength.
- Reconnect the printer to the network via the printer’s control panel. Open the Wireless or Setup menu, select Network Setup or Settings, and then Restore Network Settings.
- Within 2 hours, close and reopen the HP Smart app, setup the printer as a new printer.
9. Update Firmware and Drivers
- Ensure the printer firmware and software are up to date. Visit the HP support website to download the latest updates for your printer model.
I hope this helps.
