The router in my house was changed out and now I can't use my printer because it says it's been locked by the administrator. And it's not resetting because  it's locked.

I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO UNLOCK IT!!!!!!  This is a stupid house printer. WHy is it so hard to fix this? All I should have to do is enter the new router password, but I guess that's too easy.

Any help that works would be extremely appreciated!

Greg

@gbedcor, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Resetting the printer to its factory settings may resolve this issue.

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
  • In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage

@Spinner007

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.

MKazi is at your service.

I understand that you have an HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer and the wireless settings on the password are not accessible. There is a message saying it is locked by the administrator. Not to worry, I'll be glad to assist you with this case.

We will have to reset the printer and by doing this, the printer will restore to its original factory condition and also the password will go away.

I have sent you a private message with the printer reset instructions. Hope this information helps.

Keep me posted on the results. Cheers! 🙂

Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.

I think however thta HP should consider making this issue easier to resolve, like simply entering a new password for the new router? Done!

You're most welcome. 🙂

I appreciate and value your feedback. Maybe that might be implemented in the upcoming printers.

Happy printing! 🙂

My printer is Officejet Pro 8610. I am the only person who has used this printer and never "locked" it. I cannot access my new wireless network. Please help. Do I need a private message with the printer reset instructions also?

Thank you!

Sorry for the delay in responding. Our lawn service ran over the internet cable, which ATT had not yet put in the ground, and we lost connection. YES--this worked. Much thanks!
