I'm getting a replacement for a broken piece of plastic. I just called them to ask if I can get this piece and they just set me up for a whole replacement. Not what I was asking for but hey I'm not complaining.

Anyway, I want to get a different printer, one that uses ink cartridges that are more friendly to refilling. I will not ever get in the habit of buying cartridges. That is insane. Anyway, so I learned that you can only get what you originally purchased. I was hoping you could pay the difference if there was one to pay, or just get a model that's cheaper if it suited my needs. But since you cannot, as soon as I get my replacement printer I may just sell it but I want to know how the warranty works, if it is attached to me, and if not if it commences from the beginning of the warranty or at the point I received the replacement. I'd need this info when selling my brand new printer. Anyone know?

You are welcome. 🙂

The warranty will continue for the printer. However, the new owner's name can be registered in our database so that if the new owner calls for hardware support then it can be catered to. Whenever you wants to register new owner details, please reach out to HP phone support

You are a valued HP customer and we appreciate you greatly for doing business with HP. I have reviewed the situation and it is paramount that we address your issue. Thank you for giving us the privilege to assist you on this platform.

  • First off when you buy a new printer, It is covered by a factory warranty for 1 year from the date of purchase.

  • Then during the course of your warranty, before it expires, you could extend your warranty for the printer for another year or 2 based on the printer model.
  • The printer warranty covers hardware and replacements for that period.
  • If you get a replacement printer because the original printer malfunctioned,  then the warranty from the original printer carries to the replacement printer.
  • For example, if the original printer dies in 6 months and has a warranty of 6 more months, the replacement printer continues to retain the warranty for 6 months which s the current warranty of the original faulty printer.
  • Now if the original printer dies within a couple of days of the warranty or a couple of months of the warranty, then the replacement printer gets a 90-day warranty.
  • The replacement printer gets a 90-day warranty or retains toe original printer’s  warranty, whichever is greater.
  • The warranty for the replacement printer starts from the day you receive the product and not from the day it gets shipped to you.

I have been getting a 55.1 error and I called HP 4 months after seeing it for the first time because I looked at blogs and people said it was about power and it needed to be unplugged. This fixed it for a while until this morning and that is why I waited to call HP.

They said this is a system error that cannot be fixed with software nor firmware.

We have had this printer for 1 yr. and 4 months.

We have never had a power surge.

I am quite frustrated with HP and have filed a complaint with the WA State Attorney General claiming unfair business practises seeing how HP would not replace this faulty printer.

I would appreciate any advice on how to get our printer fixed w/o us incurring a cost.

As it right now I am going to advocate a boycott of all HP products to my friends, family and if I can at my work. If HP treats my family like this then I wonder what they try to do to others. Enough is enough!
