I keep getting the error "Remove and check color cartridge". I tried wiping the electrical portion of the cartridge with wet qtips, but it did not work. I am also not able to print with just the black cartridge; I know I used to be able to do that. It might be that the cartridge was out of ink, but still in place; I can not just remove the color cartridge and try to print. It does not work. There is a date on the color cartridge of 2015. I believe the cartridge is expired?  How do I fix this? I am heading out to buy a new color cartridge now, but please do let me know if this is the fix and what else I might try if replac ing the cartridge does not address my issue.

Hi @sansari123,

Thanks for taking an interest in the HP Support Forums! This is a great location to get resolutions and interact with experts from the community. As I understand you are having issues with the new ink cartridges keep getting rejected. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Which country do you reside in and was the printer purchased from the same country?

Are you using genuine HP ink cartridges or refilled cartridges?

Have you tried to clean the ink cartridges contacts as well as the printhead?

Have you tried to use single cartridge? Doing so will help you identify the faulty cartridge

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

Remove all the ink cartridges and then try to perform a hard reset on the printer.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Now insert the ink cartridges and then try to print a test page and check if it works.

For more assistance, please follow all the steps suggested in the support document for - HP Officejet 6210 - Remove and Check (Color/Black or Photo) Cartridge

Let me know if those steps worked for you.

If they did, that’s awesome!

Give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

That’ll help us and others see that we’ve got the answers!

Good Luck.

Good Morning Jeet_singh,
Thank you for the reply. This groups has always responded to my questions with speed and accuracy and I am so greatful to you and every one else who helps users. Just like to slightly modify what the issue is as it is not that a new color cartrige is rejected or produces error; rather the cartridge has been in place for at least a year. I don't use the printer too often. In fact the date on the cartridge is from 2015/8/22. Do you think it is expired, and I may need a new one? This cartridge was refiled by a reputable vendor by the way on 12/29/2015, and seems to stil have ink in it. Here are the answers to your quetions:
I live in the United States, and I purchased the cartridge here. I am using genuine HP printer cartridges. I did clean the cartridge, but I do not see procedures for cleaning the printhead for my printer ( Officeject 6210 ) anywhere online. The ones I found seem to have a removeable printhead, which does not seem to be the case for my printer.
I tried to only use the black cartridge, but the printer shows a message stating "please insert the color cartridge.", and it does not respond to any other command until I put in the color cartridge.
I tried hard reset as you instructed, and I got the same error about the color cartridge stating " Remove and check the color cartridge".
I then read the link you sent, and followed the instructions in cleaning the color cortridge but I get the same error. The only different thing seems to be that the article implies I should be able to print with just one cartridge, but that does not seem to work for me.
