How often does replacing the printhed solve the "missing or failed printhead" error

HP Recommended
HP 8610
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Apparently the "missing or failed printhead" error is not uncommon in the 8610 and I'm resigned to the cost of a genuine HP part since a new printer is at least 4 times that, but would like to know how often this works.  Am I wasting my money?

If you have already performed the steps from the document Error Indicates Faulty Printhead and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

 

Please reach out to HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.
