I am trying to find out how old my HP 5520 is and have checked the already answered questions, but neither works for me.  There is no year near my model and serial number.  Another post suggested reading the 4th, 5th and 6th digits of the serial number, but one of them is an alpha.  Can anyone help?

Thanks!

Printers never seem to fail unless you have purchased a full set of Ink cartridges.  Rats.

Yes, there are companies that service printers - the cost might be more than the worth of the machine.

Use your favorite search engine and search your local area - look for something like "printer repair".

In my opinion, you have this wonderful opportunity to upgrade to a nice, shiny, new HP printer.

Take it.  Smiling.

It depends on which "5520" printer you have.

There are two in this category:

Example:

CZ282C HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 5525 e-All-in-One Printer

The product was introduced in the North American region, Europe, South Africa, and at least some of the MIddle East in Mid-to-Late 2012.

Other regions (locations on the planet) show varying product introductions for this series from 2012 to 2016.

Unsolicited Comments

All models in this series are well "out of warranty" status.

Some, like the model introduced in 2012, are edging into being "vintage".

HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 5525 e-All-in-One Printer

OR

HP Photosmart 5520 e-All-in-One Printer series

Printer models in this series were introduced between mid-2012 and mid-2013.

As with other printers, the introduction date can vary by region.

Also noted:  all the models in this series are now "older" by 2019 standards.

Disclaimer:

The results illustrated in this post are "a quick check" indication of the approximate age of the included models.
There are no guarantees that the information is accurate as it relates to "your" printer.

Thank you!  My black cartridge won't print at all and my husband thinks I should just get a new printer.  Of course, I just bought and opened a three-pack of XL cartridges.  We tried following some online maintenance instructions to clean the printer head, but we couldn't get all the screws out of the machine.

Are there companies that clean and service printers like this or do you think we just trash it 😞  and move on?

Thanks again,

@MERK1

This thread does not address your question.

Computer serial number check for manufacture data

Check the Serial number for your computer.

The 4th digit (number) from the left is the year of manufacture.

The 5th and 6th digits in from the left represent the week of manufacture.

For example...

Your serial number might be AJE61232KM

6=2016

12= the 12th week in the year 2016
