Hi,

Maybe you can try this:

1. Make sure you have install the software driver of your printer

2. open Terminal --> /Application/Others/Terminal

3. type "cupsctl WebInterface=yes" then press enter

4. Launch web browser and got to "http://localhost:631"

5. Click "Administration" tab

6. Click "Manage Printers" button under Printers

7. Select your printer (without fax)

8. Click "Administration" dropdown box and select "Set Default Options"

9. Click "Two-Sided Printing"

10. In Two-Sided dropdown box, select "long edge binding or short edge binding", depends on your preference

11. Click "Set Defaults Options" button

12. Enter credintials and you are set to go.

Please try it and let me know if it works. Hope this helps

Hello. Create a preset.

Creating a preset is a quick and easy way to save time when changing print settings. You can restore the default print settings by selecting Default Settings in the Presets drop-down menu.
 NOTE:
If you select a preset when printing, that preset remains the default print option until it is changed.
  1. On your Mac, open the photo or document you want to print.
  2. Click File, and then click Print.
  3. Make sure your printer is selected.
  4. If you do not see options on the Print dialog box, click Show Details.
  5. Change the print settings to fit the type of print job you want.
  6. Click the Presets drop-down menu, and select Save Current Settings as Preset.
Figure : Example of presets drop-down menu
  7. Type a name for the preset, select Only this printer or All printers and click OK.
The preset is now saved in the Presets list.

None of the replies work. here is the problem..... I can ALWAYS print double sided to my 8620 from my ipad but CANNOT ever print double sided on my computer without putting the paper thru twice. How can i change my setting on the computer to AUTOMATICALLY print double-sided??? It just seems odd that I can print double sided with no effort from my ipad to the same printer but cannot seem to reconfigure for my MAC.

Since I cannot seem to add a screen shot to this post ere is what my options are:

Printer:  HP Officejet Pro 8620

Presets: Default

Copies and Pages

                                        Copies           Collalated

                                        Pages             All

My Document to print                              current Page

                                                                from - to

I think this worked. It made a new default setting so I need to change to default settings-double sided printing rather than leave it on just default settings every time I print. This was a great help though THANK YOU!!!!!
