Printer worked until my wife replaced  ink cartridge, so I expect that there are some pieces of tape that she may have forgotten to remove when installing the new cartridge.  How do I center the printhead if the printer is reporting that something is wrong?

@Chudman4,

Thank you for posting this on HP Support Forums!

I see from your post that you're having issues related to your HP OfficeJet printer soon after replacing the ink cartridges. No worries, I'll be glad to assist you.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Do you get any error message on the printer screen or on the computer screen?

Have you checked for any obstructions inside the printer?

Are you able to move the carriage freely?

In this scenario, I would suggest you Open the ink cartridge access door and check if the carriage moves.

If the carriage does not move, then I would suggest you manually move the carriage and check if that works.

For detailed instructions, please go through the steps suggested in the support document for - HP OfficeJet Pro 6900 Printers - Replacing Ink Cartridges

Could you please respond to this post with the details and with the results of the troubleshooting as this will help me in further assisting you.

Eagerly waiting for your response!

Thank you for the advice.  However we tried all the possible troubleshooting advice found on the HP site for this problem.  The carriage holding the ink cartridges only moves about 1 inch and then comes to a hard stop that we are reluctant to use more force against for fear of damaging the printer.   We have contacted customer support and are having the printer replaced because it is still under warranty.
