I have tried all the troubleshooting tasks and E6 continues to flash. Is the printer "toast" or what else can I try?

I'd be glad to help you! 

 

I understand that you are having issues with

 

An E6 error occurs when there is an error after a printer firmware update or a printer reset.

 

Restore factory defaults on the printer, open the HP Smart app, hide the printer, and then re-add it in the app. For more information, go to HP ENVY 6000e, 6400e printers - E6 or E9 error.

If you have already tried all the steps and still having issues, then this could be a hardware issue.
