How to clear a 'close tray' error message when the tray is undoubtably closed!

I've extracted the tray altogether and looked under the machine but cannot see any reason why it would continue to show the message. I have repeatedly withdrawn the tray and shut it but to no avail.

The error message occured when we had a paper jam, that has now been resolved. I've checked and rechecked to make sure but the machine is clear on this front.

Any ideas?

Are you getting close tray message on a printer or computer screen?

On the printer display screen.

Remove the paper tray and check for damage. There is a sensor inside the printer that detects tray open/close if a part of a tray gets damaged the printer thinks tray is open.
