How to fix print-heads slamming into the left on powerup

There is a plastic strip that runs across the printer that is printed with a grid that is read by a sensor in the carriage to track movement.  If that  strip is dirty or damaged the sensor cannot read properly and blindly moves the printhead. Clean the strip with a damp lint free cloth. Water only, no chemicals. If it is disconnected you will need to reinstall it if it is not damaged. Typically a slot in the plastic goes over a hook. If the end is broken you may be able to create a new slot with duct tape.
