HP Envy 5010
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello.  Just bought the HP Envy 5010 and trying to print a booklet from a pdf file.  When I print double sided the second the page prints upside down.  Front of page faces up and back of page faces down.  How can I get it to print so I can form a booklet?  Someone has already asked this question and the answer on the community forum was to choose long edge for duplex printing as opposed to short edge but this does not work.  My document is full of A4 portrait pages and I want to be able to get it bound so I can read it like a book.  'Properties' in the print window brings up two tabs ('Layout' and 'Paper/Quality').  Under 'Layout' I have tried both the flip options but both result in exactly the same output.  I only bought the printer today and installed it so all the drivers should be fully up to date.  Any advice welcome please.

If you have not done so, download-save-install the Full Feature Software for the printer.

HP ENVY 5000 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in.

Reinstall / Update your PDF Reader (Adobe Reader DC /Optional  Foxit Reader)

  • HINT: Watch out for and UNCHECK unwanted extra software
  • Adobe Reader DC software should be installed even if you do not open / view / print PDF files directly from the software.

Adobe Acrobat Reader Learn & Support

Try / Consider

Open the PDF file in Adobe Reader DC

Click the Print icon

Set the print menu options to Booklet, Booklet subset = Both sides, and Binding = Left (for English)

Open Properties and select just the shortcut / paper type (Media) / Paper size from the appropriate tabs / menu

For example, Select your paper type, paper size, and perhaps shortcut "Everyday Printing"

NOTE:  Do not adjust "duplex" settings in Properties - let Adobe main print menu handle booklet / duplex settings

Depending on the printer model, the main PDF print menu may look a bit different - in general, the "subsets" are similar.  For example, select (for English) "binding" on the left.

Example

Officejet Pro 8740 - Adobe Reader DC - Booklet

Hi Dragon-Fur, thank you very much for your quick reply.  Installing the Full Feature Software has worked and enabled a much more extensive choice of printing options including the duplex printing with left binding that I was looking for.
