How to print on a half sheet of paper

I print shipping labels that only use a half sheet of paper.  On my last printer this was easy.  I just put the full sheet in then hit print.  Next label I print I just inserted the remaining half sheet.  On my new printer it gives me an error message if it's only a half sheet.  I tried entering a custom size, but that project was an epic fail.  Any help would be appreciated!

I was unable to pull up the printer details with the  HP 8083.

Thanks for the response.  The numbers I found on the back of the unit are 5LJ23A and FPU 5L323-64001.  If you need more information, please let me know as I'd really like to use the 100 or more half sheets of adhesive label paper I now have on my desk  : )

I'm printing from my website through Google Chrome.  The label size is 8 1/2" by 11".  I did find another number that may help.  It's 8033 (6BB323).  Thanks!
