Hello,
Hopefully someone can help us. I did some internet research but I wasn't able to find the correct answer.
My parents are using a HP Photosmart 7520 printer and they always use the orginal cartridges from HP. I bought some new ones and replaced them all, except for the photo black one because it is expense and they don't print photos. I through the 'normal' black 365 XL should be fine.
I tried to print a page with only black letters and it didn't worked..... I get a blank page and it gives s warnings message indicating that the photo black cartridge is empty. Is there a way that I can 'turn-off' the photo cartridge and only print with the 365 XL (normal black)? This should be possible right....
Hopefully someone can help.
Thanks!

The type of printhead used in the 7520 requires that all cartridges must have ink in them.

Which country are you in. I don't think HP Photosmart 7520 uses 365/365XL. Please check the following list

All five cartridges are necessary to print with this printer.
To reduce the amount of ink used from the Photo Black cartridge, set the Print Driver settings for Media type (kind of paper) to "Plain paper" (as opposed to leaving it as "automatic" or "any").
Bob explains the use for the regular black 564 and the photo black 564 ink cartridges used in the Photosmart 7520 and the Photosmart 7525 printers.
