Welcome to the HP Forums, this is a great location to get assistance! I read your post and see that your HP DeskJet GT 5820 Printer is not printing in black. I would like to help you resolve this issue.
However, I will need a few details to provide an accurate solution,
When did this issue start?
Did you do any hardware or software changes?
How is the printer connected to computer, wired or wireless?
Which operating system is installed on the computer?
Meanwhile
Check the ink delivery system

Inspect the position of the blue printhead latch.
-
Open the exterior door.

The carriage moves to the center of the printer.

Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before you continue.
-
Visually inspect the printhead latch position.
-
If the printhead latch is closed, continue to the next step.
-
If the printhead latch is open, skip to the step to Replace the printheads.
CAUTION:
Do not touch the blue printhead latch! Touching the latch might open the carriage and cause damage to the ink system.
-
-
-
Reach inside the printer through the printhead access door, and then manually move the carriage to the right.

-
Visually inspect the ink delivery tubes.
-
If the tubes are white or ink stained, the printer is not properly primed or out of ink, skip to the step to Replace the printheads.

If the tubes are completely filled with dark ink, the printer is properly primed and filled with ink, continue to the next step.

Run the printhead cleaning utility using the HP Software
Follow these steps, if you are using a windows computer:
-
Open or search for the HP folder in your list of installed software programs, click the folder for your printer, and then click the name of your printer.
HP Printer Assistant opens.
-
On the HP Printer Assistant window, click Maintain Your Printer.
-
Click the Device Services tab, and then click Clean Ink Cartridges
.
A Print Quality Diagnostic page prints.

Click here and refer the HP document to perform the above steps.
Let me know how it goes.

You have to manually prime it yourself! HP ink-tank enabled printers' purge system is the weakest of all ink-jet printer manufacturers! Epson printers has a featured function "Replace all the inks in the tube" button and does the hassle-free priming job all for you that the GT Series don't. There are tutorials on YouTube on how to manually prime your GT series with four (4) syringes.
Have fun priming!
