I bought an HP OfficeJet 6958 from Costco a few months ago.  I have tried (unsuccessfuly) to resize various documents. I followed the directions but to no avail. Everytime I hit the resize button and press fit to page.  As soon as I go to copy the resize goes back to "actual" and will not resize. I have even tried custom button up to 150% and still get the same size as Im trying to copy. I am about ready to throw this thing away and try another printer. I do not understand what I am doing wrong. I would appreciate any help you can give me.

Hi @enonlady,

Thank you for becoming an HP Forum member. It is a great location to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others!

Going through your post, I understand that you are trying to resize the copy on your Officejet printer. Let’s try the steps listed here:

Try to perform a power drain on the printer and check. Here are the steps:

·         With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

·         Remove USB cable, if present.

·         Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

·         Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

·         Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Once done, let's try these steps here to resize the setting while making a copy.

  1. From the Home screen on the printer control panel, touch the Copy icon .
  2. Swipe to the desired number of copies, or touch the keypad icon , then input a number.

  3. Touch the Settings icon , then specify the desired advanced copy settings.

  4. Screoll down to Resize: Select the size of the image of the photo or document that you want to copy. There are 3 settings, choose either fit to page or custom to enlarge your copies.

  • Actual: Make a copy that is the same size as the original. The margins of the copied image might be clipped.

  • Fit to page: Make a copy that is centered with a white border around the edges. The resized image is either enlarged or reduced to fit the size of the selected output paper.

The 2-sided copy option does not work if the Fit to page option is selected.

  • Custom: Increase the size of the image by selecting values greater than 100% or reduce the image size by selecting values less than 100%.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Eagerly waiting for your response!

Hello jeet, I tried (in vain) to do what you said to do. I followed your instructions to the T. It did not work. I have tried it several times thinking I may have missed a step. It did not work.  I have come to the conclusion that this printer does not resize. Even though it is new, I will have to get another one. The work I do requires resizing. Thanks for your help.
