I'm trying to set print preview for every print job; no matter where I'm printing from.  Example:  If I print directly from an email, I don't get a preview.  If I print something from the internet from Firefox, I can get a print preview because I set up Firefox to do a print preview.  But I have to hit print from the dropdown box on Firefox.   But most of the time the preview shows the whole page not just what I want to print. When I print a receipt directly from a site after paying  bill (on Firefox), no print preview.  Same goes for MS Edge, Chrome, etc.   I was able to set a print preview that showed up every time I printed on my previous printer (not a HP).  I'm tired of wasting paper and ink.

Within the context of how I understand your question:

I do not know of a way to universally set / view a print preview no matter the content or source.

Printers are different, of course; there is every possibility that I am missing something.

The software you are using (for example, Firefox browser) dictates the print options available and how you access the setup.

For example:

Firefox itself does provide a "Snip" feature, that is, the ability to select and print "just what you want" from a webpage.  The setup is not automatic (you have to invoke the feature and then select your print-area) and you must have a Firefox account.

If you are willing to do so, you can also use Windows "Snip" to grab, save, and then print the content you want.

Windows snip is not a "browser" thing, it is a Windows thing, and works for whatever you can see on your screen (though capturing the Start Screen can be tricky).

Snip – available since Vista!  Check out the “delay” feature in Windows 10

The "snip-save-print (the saved .jpg file) works well for receipts, train tickets, and the like - the feature is easy to use but does require that you invoke the snip function, grab your content, save that content, and then print the file in which the content is saved.
