Welcome to HP support community.

Remove and reinsert the ink cartridges

  1. Open the door to access the ink cartridges.

  2. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before you continue.

  3. Remove the ink cartridges from their slots, and then check the labels.

    • If the ink cartridges are not labeled SETUP, do not continue with the steps in this document. Return the printer to the retailer.

    • If the ink cartridges are labeled SETUP, continue to the next step.

    • If your printer was working fine, and you installed new ink cartridges, continue to the next step.

  4. Reinsert the ink cartridges into their slots.

  5. Close the ink cartridge access door.

Update the printer firmware

Go to Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware for steps to update the printer firmware.
