How will I know when to change an ink cartridge? I only see an estimate on ink level but no messages to replace even though my pages are not printing correctly now.

This is a great location to get assistance! I read your post and see that you are getting print quality issues on HP OfficeJet Pro 6960 Printer. I would like to help you resolve this issue.
You should get Ink alert or low on ink message if the ink cartridge is depleted.
However:
Follow the below steps to fix the print quality issue.
- Make sure you are using the appropriate paper for your print job.
- Check the print settings.
- Check the estimated ink levels.
- Make sure the ink cartridges are properly vented and seated correctly.
- Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page.
- Align the printhead.
Click here and refer the document to perform the above steps.
Let me know how it goes.
Cheers.
