Hp7740
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just purchased an hp7740 printer. I cannot get the paper tray to feed photo paper into the printer. I have changed settings to accommodate the paper but each time it says paper jam (no jam) but it doesn’t seem to pick up the paper. It feeds regular paper fine. I am using tray 1.  Any suggestions before I return the printer?

Hi,

what is your paper weight?

Is it suitable with inkjet printers?

Your printer supports up to 180gsm paper (Matte or Glossy), as well as HP Advanced Photo Papers (250gsm), any thicker media is not supported by the printer as listed by its specs:

I changed paper to 180 and after several tries it did start feeding the paper. Thanks for your suggestion. But  now when a picture is printed it comes out with 1 inch roller lines throughout.  Any suggestions?

I just unboxed this printer and I'm having the same issue: failure to print to photo paper and false paper jam.

I am using HP Advanced Photo Paper.

I managed to get it to print one time, after several tries, but no luck since then.

Should I have it replaced, or does it need to be "broken in"?

Very disappointed!

I have used 180 pound printer paper with little success. It will feed the paper 1/10 tries. I bought the printer to scan large books and it does that job well. If you plan on printing pictures on a consistent basis I would return the printer and purchase something else. I too am very disappointed in this product.

Good news!

I just installed the latest firmware, which addresses a few issues, one of which is the false paper jam errors.

Since the install I am now able to print to the Advanced Photo paper.

The firmware did not show up when doing the firmware check on the printer's web page.

I had to go onto the HP support site and download it, then run it manually.

The firmware is "1828A" dated August 3rd 2018.
