When making copies the output is only in red ink. However, when printing from PC black is correctly output. Both the color and black cartridges have been replaced with new HP cartridges. Test printer output looks fine with color and black & white. I have done three levels of printer cartridge cleaning, Q-tips were used to clean ink output area on each cartridge.
Again, the on;y co;or printed when making a copy regardless of what is being copied comes out red.
Any help would greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Reset the printer to clear certain error states, and then check the power source to make sure the printer is getting enough power to operate the copier.
-
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer, disconnect the power cord from the power source, and then wait 30 seconds.
-
If you are using a power strip or multi-plug adapter, connect the cord directly to a wall outlet to make sure the printer is getting enough power.
-
Reconnect the power cord to the printer, and then try making a copy.
-
If the issue persists, connect the printer to a different wall outlet to determine if the original outlet is causing the issue.
-
If the issue persists, please perform the remaining steps from this document: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-envy-5660-e-all-in-one-printer-series/6809225/model/8605132/...

HP Support,
I have followed your suggestions regarding power and find no problems. Printer is now plugged into a wall outlet.
Copying a black and white document still prints with all characters in red even though the selection was for Black. I tried selecting Color and still got all red characters.
Scanning the black and white document and then printing yields a correct black and white document.
In short, I still have the same issue - copying a document only yields red characters.
What other suggestions can you offer? Thanks for your assistance.

-

-
Save Current Settings or Set as New Defaults: Retains the selected settings for future copy jobs.
-

Unfortunately, even after trying all the suggestions provided by HP it never worked. I simply gave up.
You could scan in the item and print it correctly FROM the computer. At least that worked for me.
It would be great if HP could post a good fix.
