Worked through this list, and none of them really cleared it.  Going one stage further and  restoring the printer to factory defaults did resolve it however.  Thank you for your effort and advice.

Hi @TonyM18,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting the E6 error on the HP ENVY 6020e All-in-One Printer typically indicates a mechanical issue or paper jam. This error can occur due to a variety of reasons, including problems with the ink cartridges or paper feed. To troubleshoot and clear the error, follow these steps:

1. Check for Paper Jams

  • Open the printer's paper tray and check inside the printer for any paper jams or bits of torn paper.
  • Remove any paper you find, making sure no bits are stuck inside the rollers.

2. Check the Ink Cartridges

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Open the printer and inspect the ink cartridges to ensure they are properly seated.
  • Remove the cartridges, clean the electrical contacts gently with a lint-free cloth, and reinstall them.

3. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

4. Perform a Hard Reset

  • With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet and wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Turn the printer back on and check if the error is resolved.

5. Inspect the Printer for Obstructions

  • Open the printer's access doors and check for any foreign objects or debris that could be obstructing the carriage or rollers.
  • Gently move the ink carriage from side to side to see if it's stuck or blocked.

I have tried this sequence and it has not cleared the issue.  I have tried doing a factory reset and that does not seem to have worked. This is used for business and this is a serious problem for me!
