My Hp Photosmart printer D110a will not print the alignment page and is stuck.
The screen on the printer  constantly says “printing alignment page “ but nothing happens and I can’t do

anything further until it does. The drivers are up to date. It does print a Windows test page.
It will occasionally expel a sheet of paper with no printing on it. The ink cartridges are relatively new.
I have unplugged it several times in an effort to reset but nothing changes.
Any suggestions on a course of action would be appreciated

Hi @DBax1,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP Photosmart D110a printer is stuck on the "printing alignment page" and not progressing, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Cancel the Print Job:

  • Press the "Cancel" button on the printer to stop the current alignment print job.

Check Paper and Ink:

  • Ensure the printer has paper loaded correctly and the ink cartridges are properly installed. Sometimes, misalignment or improperly seated cartridges can cause issues.

Clean the Print Heads:

  • Navigate to the printer’s maintenance menu and select the option to clean the print heads. This can sometimes resolve issues with printing blank pages.

Update Printer Firmware:  Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Check for any available firmware updates for your printer on the HP support website and update the printer's firmware if necessary.

Manual Alignment:

  • Try manually aligning the printer. Here's how:
    1. Turn on the printer.
    2. Load plain white paper into the input tray.
    3. Open the HP Solution Center on your computer.
    4. Click on the "Printer Settings" tab.
    5. Select "Printer Toolbox" and then "Align the Print Cartridges".
    6. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the alignment.

Reset the Printer:

  • Perform a hard reset of the printer:
    1. Turn on the printer.
    2. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
    3. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    4. Wait at least 60 seconds.
    5. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
    6. Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
    7. Turn on the printer and check if the issue persists.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Ensure there are no paper jams or obstructions inside the printer. Remove any paper stuck in the input or output trays.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Sometimes, reinstalling the printer drivers can resolve communication issues:
    1. Uninstall the printer drivers from your computer.
    2. Download the latest drivers from the HP support website and install them.

Print Alignment Page from Printer Menu:

  • Try printing the alignment page directly from the printer’s control panel:
    1. From the printer’s home screen, select "Setup".
    2. Navigate to "Tools".
    3. Select "Align Printer".

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
