My HP ENVY Photo 7855 printer suddenly began freezing at startup. The frozen  display shows the HP logo, a horizontal blue line, and the first of 7 bullets filled in. I have tried the various reset options with no luck. Please advise.

Hi @Mauihokie,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP ENVY Photo 7855 printer might be experiencing a firmware or hardware issue causing it to freeze at startup. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

Power Cycle the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn it on again. Sometimes, a simple power cycle can resolve minor issues.

Reset the Printer: Try performing a reset on the printer by following these steps:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn the printer on if it does not automatically turn on.

Update Firmware: If possible, check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model on the HP website. Updating the firmware can sometimes fix bugs or issues that cause freezing or startup problems.

Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions: Make sure there are no paper jams or any other obstructions inside the printer that could be causing it to freeze during startup.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

The powering off doesn't work. I don't know how to update firmware if i can't connect to my printer. Is there some other reset that will work.
