Hi @Deephammer,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP LaserJet printer is experiencing issues with printing after sitting idle for a while, despite having a recently replaced toner cartridge. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:
Check Toner Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the toner cartridge is properly installed. Sometimes, if the cartridge is not seated correctly, it can cause printing problems. Remove the toner cartridge and reseat it firmly into the printer.
Clean the Printer: Dust and debris can accumulate inside the printer, especially if it has been sitting idle for an extended period. Use compressed air or a soft brush to carefully clean the inside of the printer, including the toner cartridge area, paper path, and rollers.
Check Toner Cartridge: Even though you replaced the toner cartridge recently, it's possible that the cartridge might be faulty or dried out, especially if it has been sitting unused for a couple of months. Consider replacing the toner cartridge with a new one to see if that resolves the issue.
Perform Printer Maintenance: Some HP LaserJet printers have built-in maintenance routines that can help resolve printing problems. Check the printer's manual or settings menu for options such as "Clean Printhead" or "Calibrate Printer" and follow the on-screen instructions.
Update Printer Firmware: Make sure that your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, firmware updates can address known issues and improve printer performance. Check the website HP for any available firmware updates for your printer model and install them if necessary.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
