Hi @Aalexis19

Welcome to HP Support Community!

We noticed that this thread hasn't had any updates in a while since your original post; while this is rare, we didn't want this post to remain unanswered, so, here's the solution to your query. We hope it helps you and everyone viewing this post 😊

I see your HP Smart Tank 210 is showing an orange exclamation mark on the control panel, which usually signals a printer error or alert that needs attention. Since you've already uploaded an image showing the panel, let's walk through a focused diagnostic based on what we can see and what’s common with this model.

1. Check for Ink or Printhead Issues

The orange exclamation mark often relates to ink system problems.

  • Open the cartridge access door and inspect the ink levels visually.
  • Make sure all ink bottles are properly seated and not overfilled.
  • If you recently refilled ink, ensure the caps are tightly closed and the ink lines are free of bubbles or blockages.

If the printhead icons are blinking, it may indicate a problem with either the black or color printhead.

2. Inspect for Paper or Jam Alerts

The control panel may also show this alert if there’s a paper feed issue.

  • Remove all paper from the input tray.
  • Check for any jammed paper, even small scraps near the rollers.
  • Reload fresh paper and press the Resume button (green down arrow).

3. Run a Printhead Cleaning Cycle

If the printer is idle but still shows the alert:

  • Press and hold the Information button (blue “i”) and the Cancel button (red “X”) together for 3 seconds.
  • This should trigger a printhead cleaning or diagnostic page.

If nothing prints, the issue may be firmware-related or a deeper hardware fault.

4. Check for Firmware Updates

Outdated firmware can cause persistent alerts.

5. Reset the Printer

If the alert persists:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from both the printer and wall outlet.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and power on.

If the issue continues, let me know what icon is blinking next to the exclamation mark (e.g., ink, paper, printhead), or if there’s a specific error code on the screen. I’ll guide you further based on that.

You're doing everything right—let’s get this printer back to full function.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved, and if you feel this reply was helpful, click “Yes”.
