I run Windows and have a hp4640. After recent Windows update, Windows no longer supports HP? And prints get stuck in print queue, so it prints, but remains there and does not clear once printed. The only way I can print the next job is by uninstalling and reinstalling the printer. I've read up that by changing the advanced options in properties, but it is greyed out. Help. I'm so tired of this that in at the point of getting a new printer

Hi @Helena1975,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing some frustrating issues with your HP printer after a recent Windows update. Here are some steps you can take to try to resolve the problem.
- Update Printer Drivers: Make sure you have the latest drivers for your HP printer installed. You can download them from the HP website or use the built-in driver update feature in Windows.
- Restart Print Spooler Service: Sometimes, restarting the Print Spooler service can resolve print queue issues. Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter. Find the "Print Spooler" service, right-click on it, and select "Restart."
- Clear Print Queue: Open the print queue by typing "printers" in the Windows search bar and selecting "Printers & scanners." Double-click on your printer, and you should see the print queue. Cancel or delete any pending print jobs.
- Check Printer Ports: Ensure that the printer is using the correct port. Go to "Printers & scanners," right-click on your printer, select "Printer properties," go to the "Ports" tab, and make sure the correct port is selected.
- Disable SNMP: Sometimes, disabling SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) can help. Go to "Printers & scanners," right-click on your printer, select "Printer properties," go to the "Ports" tab, select your port, click "Configure Port," and uncheck "SNMP Status Enabled."
- Reinstall Printer: If none of the above steps work, try removing the printer from your system and reinstalling it. Go to "Printers & scanners," select your printer, and click "Remove device." Then, reinstall the printer using the latest drivers.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it's possible that there's a compatibility issue between your HP printer and the recent Windows update.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
