I changed my yellow ink cartridge which printer identified was out. Have inventory in office. Upon putting new cartridge,  I closed the door and it gets stuck in Validating. I have turned on/off printer, etc, recharged cartridge but no different in response.  Circle remains on screen showing Valudating.

HI @MAK561,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 printer is stuck on "Validating new cartridge," there are a few steps you can take to try and resolve the issue:

Step 1: Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Turn Off the Printer: Press the power button to turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the Printer: Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
  3. Wait: Leave the printer unplugged for at least 60 seconds.
  4. Plug Back In: Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.

Step 2: Check the Cartridge

  1. Remove the Cartridge: Open the printer and remove the yellow cartridge.
  2. Inspect the Cartridge: Ensure there are no protective tapes or stickers on the cartridge that might be blocking the contacts.
  3. Clean the Contacts: Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to clean the electrical contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer.
  4. Reinsert the Cartridge: Carefully reinsert the cartridge, ensuring it is seated properly.

Step 3: Use a Different Cartridge

  1. Try Another Cartridge: If you have another yellow cartridge available, try inserting that one to see if the problem is with the cartridge itself.

Step 4: Check for Firmware Updates

  1. Go to HP's Website: Visit the HP support website and check for any firmware updates for your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010.
  2. Download and Install Updates: Follow the instructions to download and install any available firmware updates. This can often resolve issues related to cartridge recognition.

Step 5: Reset the Printer Settings

  1. Access Printer Settings: From the printer’s control panel, go to the settings or setup menu.
  2. Restore Factory Defaults: Find the option to restore factory defaults or perform a reset. This will reset the printer settings, which can sometimes resolve recognition issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
